المستخلص: عرفت توات نشاطا زراعيا متنوعـا، ساعد إلى حد كبير في تأمين حاجيات السكان الغذائيـة، وبخاصـة مـن التمـور، والحبـوب (القمح، والشـعير، والـذرة المحليـة) وبعـض الخضـر والفواكه مثل البطيخ والفول الطماطم التي اشتهرت بها المنطقة كما عرفت تصدير بعض المنتجات إلى السودان الغربي عبر تجارة القوافل مثل التمر والتبغ، والطماطم المجففة. فمـا هـي أهميـة الفقـارة فـي النشاط الزراعي بتوات وما هي أبرز المنتجات الزراعية التي عرفتها المنطقة؟ وقد نقلت إلينا كتابات الرحالة الأوروبيين كثيرا من المعلومات التي تتعلق بهذا الجانب الهام فـي حياة الإنسان التواتي، أعانتنا في معرفة تطور حرفة الزراعة والتجارة في هذه المنطقة، وأكد الواقع الحالي كثيرا مما نقلوه لنا في كتبهم ومذكراتهم. ومن خلال هذه المقال نوضح تحديدا جغرافيا لإقليم توات وتعريفا للفقارة مع ذكر أقسامها وكيفية حساب الماء وتوزيعه وأهم المنتجات الزراعية مع التطرق لأهميتهـا فـي ازدهـار الحركـة التجاريـة بإقليم توات داخليا وخارجيا.]

Touat has been involved in a variety of agricultural activities, which have greatly helped to secure the food needs of the population, especially in terms of dates, cereals (wheat, barley, local corn) and some vegetables and fruits such as watermelons, beans and tomatoes, for which the region is famous. It has also been involved in the export of some produce to western Sudan through the caravan trade such as in dates, tobacco and dried tomatoes. What then is the significance of the Faqaarah in Touat's agricultural activity and what are the main agricultural products know in the region? The writings of European travelers have transmitted to us a lot of information related to this important aspect of the life of the Touati. They have helped us to learn about the development of the agriculture and trade in this region, whilst the current reality has confirmed much of what they conveyed to us in their books and memoirs. Through this article, we specifically explain the geography of the region of Touat and the definition of the Faqaarah, along with its categories, and the manner of how the water is calculated and distributed, in addition to the most important agricultural products, while addressing its importance in respect to making trade in the region of Touat flourish, internally and externally.
