|a الإمام البرماوي شافعي المذهب، أخذ العلم علي يد شيوخ شافعين مثل: بدر الدين الزركشي، وسراج الدين البلقيني، كما أنه معدود من علماء الشافعية، عين في القاهرة لتدريس الفقه بالمؤيدية، وكان علامة في الفقه، وله عدة مؤلفات فقهية. ومن خلال دراسة مصادره الفقهية يتضح لنا أن الشمس البرماوي أكثر من النقل عن الفقهاء الأربعة، وبخاصة الشافعي وغيره من فقهاء الشافعية، مع عدم إغفال بقية المذاهب، وبدا تأثره الواضح بالمذهب الحنفي والمالكي، وتنوعت نقوله عن هذه المذاهب، مع عدم الإكثار من النقل عن المذهب الحنبلي.
