This research aims at studying Al-Wazir Al- Muhalaby’s life and his literature in several sides. It comes in a preface and three chapters. in the preface, I discussed, in general the epoch the poet lived in form the social, political and literal. In spite of political instability of life in that era, which had many wars and conflicts, educational life was very vivid and creative. In addition to his relations with the artists whom we have heard in their names in the literal books up today. His meetings, which he held with closest friends, contemporary artists and poets, had a very great importance and usefulness to spread and exchange different kinds of knowledge among them. In the first chapter from this study comes about Al-Wazir Al- Muhalaby’s name, life, family and ministry till his death trying to reveal the mystery about him. Because the books didn’t give us a complete and clear picture about his earlier life and miserable conditions that he lived in. Then, I discussed the opposite side of his life after being a minister in Baghdad. After that, I talked about his relations with many artists of that time in his literal meetings, which were creative in literary. I found that he had good relationships with most of the artists of his time. Because he is a poet and loves poetry, he donates money and presents to them. On the one hand, I can say he was one of the poets who his production was very little because the events of the epoch were not at his side. On the other hand, I talked about his educational and literal background and I indicated that he was one of the ministers and artists who did not devote their life for poetry despite of his wide knowledge. During my analysis, I found that Al- Khaqany didn’t collect all of Al- Muhalaby’s poetry in the “Magazine of Resources” which comes as an article within seventeen pages which wasn’t complete and accurate .So, I have worked well to make it correct and complete as possible as I can. Therefore, I added a number of his poems and prose in this study to draw a complete and clear image. Then, I analyzed the objectives of his poetry, which were mainly concerned with flirtation, description, wisdom, brotherhood, and renunciation in addition to “describing singing, bondwomen, and flirting youth. After that, I discussed his prose, which spread hither and thither. This led me to find that Al-Muhalaby was a wise writer who talked about people in everywhere and in any time. Finally, I discussed the characteristics of his poetry and prose. Regarding the meanings of his poetry and prose, I found that he was greatly affected by previous heritage and traditions, and he took the meanings, also, from the poets of his time in addition to the old poets.
