المستخلص: هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى معرفة "الوظائف الاجتماعية لجهاز الأمن العام من وجهة نظر المواطن الأردني. واعتمدت الدراسة على مصادر البيانات بنوعيها الأولية والثانوية، وتم الحصول على البيانات الثانوية من بعض الكتب والدراسات السابقة ذات العلاقة بموضوع الدراسة، أما البيانات الأولية فتم الحصول عليها عن طريق تطبيق استبانة خاصة بالدراسة. وتكون مجتمع الدراسة من سكان مدينة عمان جميعهم ويقدر عددهم عام 2014 بنحو (3.000.000)، وتم اختيار عينة قصدية، أو غرضية نتكون من (400) مواطن ومواطنه من سكان مدينة عمان؛ ممن استفادوا من تلك الوظائف، إلا أنه تم استبعاد (23) استبانة لعدم صلاحيتها للتحليل الإحصائي، وبذلك فإن عدد الاستبانات القابلة لإجراء عمليات التحليل الإحصائي (377)، وذلك باستخدام نظام برنامج الحزمة الإحصائية للعلوم الاجتماعية (الإصدار الخامس عشر) (Statistical Package for Social Sciences -SPSS,ver.0.15).، بغية تحقيق أهداف الدراسة وغاياتها.

This study aimed to find out ’’social functions for the GSS from the viewpoint of the Jordanian citizen. The study relied on data of primary and secondary two types of sources, were obtained secondary data from some of the books and previous studies related to the subject of the study, while preliminary data shoved obtained by applying private study questionnaire. The study population consisted of all residents of the city of Amman and the number is estimated at about 2014 (3,000,000), was chosen deliberately, sample, or object-consisting of (400) citizen of the population of the city of Amman; who have benefited from these jobs, however, were excluded (23 ) to identify the lack of validity of the statistical analysis, and thus the number of questionnaires midwife to perform statistical analysis operations (377), using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences software system (version XV) (Statistical Package for Social Sciences -SPSS, ver.0.15), in order to achieve The study’s goals and objectives. \ The main findings of the study include: The study found that Jordanian citizens a great deal of understanding and awareness of the importance of the social functions of the public security organs - Evidenced by the results of the study that there were no statistically significant differences at (a < 0.05) for the position of citizens of the social functions of the security services due to the variable (gender). - Results of the study also found that there are statistically significant differences at (a < 0.05) for the position of citizens of the social functions of the security services due to the variables (age, educational level).
