|b After a century and a half of the establishment of its first municipality, Jordan will be witnessing a new administration local experience through the Municipalities and Decentralization Elections due in August 2017. The present report consists of six sections: - Municipal councils' composition - Current municipalities law - Running turnout - Balloting turnout - Partisan participation - Women's participation. According to opinion polls, 29% of citizens say that they will cast their vote in the upcoming balloting, 58.6% do not intend to vote and 12.4% have not made up their minds. On the other hand, the Independent Election Commission's statistics indicate that 1094 women have applied to run the election, in contrast with 502 in the previous race. In conclusion, the recent general election scenario is likely to take place. Fragile blocs and alliances are expected to come up with discordant local councils, which would not make achievements. In addition, the elected heads of municipalities may face more difficulty, having to build alliances to secure a majority in their future teams. In the new experience, a third of the kingdom's municipalities have been divided into 5 or more counsels. In this and other cases, the mayor shall need a council with a majority that is compatible with their own approach.
