Some contemporaries claimed that People of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) are not assertively requested, in Islam, to follow the Messenger of Allah Mohammed PBUH, and they are assertively requested, only to believe in his prophecy. He said that if they believe in him and follow his religion they will be rewarded twice. And if they believe in him but do not follow him, they will be rewarded once. Researchers have investigated those who say that among the contemporary thinkers, and looked for the roots of this saying in history, reviewed their most important evidences, criticized them, opposed them by other evidences and concluded that this claim is void as it is contrary to Qur'an and Sunnah, Ijmā' (the consensus or agreement of the Muslims on religious issues) and the reason.
