المستخلص: يعد النقل الجوي الوسيلة التي يتم من خلالها نقل الأشخاص والبضائع من مكان لأخر على نطاق الدولة الواحدة أو بين دولة وأخرى مما جعله يصلح للمسافات المتوسطة والبعيدة مما أحدث تفاعل مكاني بين البيئات الجغرافية المختلفة، وبذلك يعد النقل الجوي الدعامة الأساسية للحياة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والسياسية. وعليه يؤدي النقل الجوي في مطار بغداد الدولي دورا كبيرا في حركة السكان والبضائع بسبب تطور إمكاناته وانتظام خدماته على المستوى المحلى أو الدولي فضلا عن ما يوفره من سرعة وراحة وأمان في الرحلة إذ بدء النقل فيه منذ سنة (1969) كما تم تطويره في سنتي (1979 و 1982) وتولى بناءه شركات فرنسية وبريطانية. لم يشهد النقل الجوي في العراق تطورا متواصلا إذ شهد العديد من العقبات والمشكلات التي أدت إلى تقليص دوره في مجالات التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، وبالرغم ما يحتويه العراق من موارد ومقومات للنهوض بواقع الطيران العراقي، وقد أنفرد القطاع العام في ملكية النقل الجوي بسبب غياب قواعد المنافسة. ويعد مستوى الخدمة المقدمة في المطارات العراقية متدنيا إذا ما قورنت بمطارات العالم وذلك بسبب العقوبات الاقتصادية التي استمرت ثلاثة عشر سنة ومع فقدان العراق لأسطوله الجوي بعد حرب الخليج الأولى سنة (1991) والثانية سنة (2003)، إذ أصبحت المطارات العراقية مختلفة ولا تضاهي مطارات دول العالم الأخرى. على الرغم من التحسن النسبي في مجال النقل الجوي بعد سنة (2003) إلا أن هذا القطاع لايزال يتطلب تطويرا إضافيا كبيرا ليصبح منافسا جيدا ضمن سوق النقل الجوي الدولي والداخلي، وخاصة أن هذا القطاع يمثل العراق في عيون العالم بل هو أيضا بمثابة العبارة التي من خلالها ينهض العراق كسابق عهده من خادل الاهتمام اللازم به ليكون على المستوى المطلوب، إذ يمتلك العراق ستة مطارات دولية هي (بغداد، الموصل، البصرة، أربيل، السليمانية، والنجف) ويرتبط العراق مع معظم دول العالم من خلال هذه المطارات. إن النقل الجوي كباقي فروع النقل يحتاج إلى مساحات مهيأة يتم فيها عمليات النزول والركوب، الشحن والتفريغ، إلا إن هذه المساحات مصنفة حسب معايير معينة فنجد المطارات تعاني من ضعف الإدارة وتحتاج إلى أعادة تأهيل بشكل كامل للارتقاء بالمستوى المطلوب.

The level of service provided in Iraqi airports low if compared airports in the world due to the economic sanctions that thirteen-year-old lasted With the loss of Iraq's airspace to his fleet after the first Gulf War in 1991 and the second in 2003, as it became the Iraqi airports vary not match Airports rest of the world. Despite the relative improvement in the field of air transport after 2003, but the sector still requires a development extra large to become a good competitor in the international air transport market and the rules of procedure, and especially that this sector represents Iraq in the eyes of the world it is also serves as the gateway through which rises Iraq as ever through the necessary attention to be done at the required level, as Iraq has six international airports are (Baghdad, Mosul, Basra, Irbil, Sulaymaniyah, and Najaf) Iraq is linked with most of the world through these airports The air transport like other branches of transport needs to be equipped spaces where to get off and ride operations, loading and unloading, but these spaces classified according to certain criteria, we find airports suffer from poor management and need rehabilitation fully to raise the required level.
