This article has three folded interrelated goals: first, to present a brief outline of relative clause typology, second, to introduce the assumingly universal Noun Phrase Accessibility Hierarchy (NPAH) to relativisation, and third to show which functional positions specified on the hierarchy are accessible to relativisation in Arabic. It is concluded here that Classical Arabic (CLA) relativisation go deep on the scale because of resumptive pronoun strategy. |
