|b Through this paper, we’ll try to follow the story of the Chalcedon Council, which was convened in 451 AD by the emperor Marcian and his wife Pulcheria, to discuss the accumulated issues since the time of Theodosius II, especially the Eutychian Heresy. Accordingly, it was essential to add a new text clarifying the Christological dogma to the Christian decree, where the different churches didn’t agree with each other; some confessing the one nature in Christ, and others insisting to the dual nature. Furthermore, we’ll also observe the consequences of this council, which had a big role in the schism of the churches: the Chalcedonian and Non-Chalcedonian, and the persecution of those who rejected its decisions, which had a negative impact on the Byzantine Empire

|a سنحاول من خلال هذا المقال، تتبع قصة مجمع خلقيدونية الذي انعقد سنة 451م بأمر من الإمبراطور مارقيانوس وزوجته بولخريا. وهذا للنظر في القضايا التي تراكمت من عهد الإمبراطور ثيؤدوسيوس الثاني، ولعل أهمها الهرطقة الأوطاخية، حيث أن الوضع المتأزم وقتها، كان يستدعي ضرورة إضافة نص جديد-لإيضاح عقيدة طبيعة المسيح (الكريستولوجيا) –إلي نص قانون إيمان الكنيسة الجامعة (القانون النيقاوي القسطنطيني)، حيث اختلفت حولها الكنائس المتصارعة، فذهب بعضها إلى الإقرار بالطبيعة الواحدة في المسيح، وبعضها الآخر إلى القول بالطبيعتين. كما سنقف بالإضافة إلى ما ذكر، على أهم النتائج المترتبة على قرارات هذا المجمع، وهي التي ساهمت في الانقسام بين الكنائس الخلقيدونية واللاخلقيدونية، وتعرض الكنائس الرافضة له لاضطهادات متتالية من قبل الأباطرة، وهذا ما أثر سلبا على النظام داخل الإمبراطورية البيزنطية.
