المستخلص: هدفت الدراسة الي التعريف بمفاهيم وقيمة الوقت، والآراء المختلفة حول أهمية الوقت في حياة الأفراد والمؤسسات، ومضيعات الوقت، وإدارة الوقت في المؤسسات المختلفة، وخصائص الوقت، وأنواعه، والتعريف بإدارة الوقت، وأهداف إدارة الوقت وفوائدها، وقيمتها لمؤسسات الأعمال، وتكنولوجيا المعلومات وعلاقتها بإدارة الوقت، وإدارة الوقت في مؤسسات المعلومات، وإرشادات ونصائح للتقليل من مضيعات الوقت في المكتبات ومراكز المعلومات للرفع من أداء العاملين وزيادة فعالية الخدمات المقدمة للمستفيدين منها، وحاولت الدراسة الإجابة علي بعض الأسئلة التي تتعلق بأهمية الوقت باعتباره مورد هام في العمل الإداري، ومدي تطبيق مفهوم إدارة الوقت في المكتبات عموما والمكتبات العربية. ثم الدعوة إلي إدخال مساق "إدارة الوقت" في مناهج علم المكتبات والمعلومات في الجامعات العربية لأهمية هذا الموضوع للعاملين بالمؤسسات المعلوماتية.

Information organizations are considered a corner-stone which attributes in the development and progress of the society and work for transforming this society from traditional society into an information and knowledge society by providing information and knowledge that used in planning, training, and scientific research and other information activities. The exploiting of time available for these organizations in good ways is very important matter in which make the working librarians do their duties positively with high capacity and performance. Time-management in information organizations should provide the librarians with all possible ways of benefiting from time available to them. The study aimed at providing the reader with concepts of time management applied in business institutions in general and information organization in particular, and suggested offering library and information science course dealing with time management in schools of Library and information Science in Arab universities for a new generation of information profession to help them exploiting the time available to them in such good ways. The library research method was used in preparing the study in which data and information relevant to the topic of the study are gathered from different types of information sources and document such as books, journals and reports both printed and electronic in Arabic and English languages. The study objectives are investigating time management in general and in library science in particular, and introducing general concepts of time management, as well as its value in the life of individuals and society, and the role of time management in libraries and information centers.
