Effects of Infra-red Gallium Arsenide Laser in Pain Management of Lateral Epicondylitis

Lateral epicondylitis or Tennis elbow, is a painful condition of the elbow caused by overuse. Not surprisingly, playing tennis or other racquet sports can cause this condition. Not only athletes but many people with tennis elbow participate in work or recreational activities that require repetitive and vigorous use of the forearm muscle. Many types of laser therapy used in numerous types of aliments, but there is shortage of researches about the effect of infra-red gallium laser in pain management. Therefore, this study was done to investigate the efficacy of this type of laser in treatment of lateral epicondylitis. Forty-six men and women (age range, 22-56 yr.) with diagnostic lateral epicondylitis of more than 21 days in duration, 25 females their ages ranged from 20 to 50 years (X = 28), and 21 males their ages ranged from 22 to 56 years (X= 34). Result proved that Infra-red gallium arsenide laser therapy would lessen pain and reduce tenderness for lateral epicondylitis. |
