المستخلص: Purpose- The purpose of this paper is to describe the findings of a survey and evaluate the role played by Virtual Reference Services (VRS) “Ask a librarian” in Shaqra university society,especially students. The main objective of the survey was to obtain feedback from sample on their perceptions of digital library services,to give the librarians in digital library an opportunity to make suggestions. Design/methodology/approach- Mixed methods approach was adopted. A questionnaires and interviews were used to gather data. The sample size was 392 undergraduate students of the University of Shaqra were randomly selected. Findings - The results of the survey indicated that students users have different perceptions with regard to Virtual Reference Services (VRS) “Ask a librarian “Overall, the majority of the respondents stated that the evaluation of the (VRS) “Ask a librarian” needs improvement, and there are students whodo not know how to use (VRS) “Ask a librarian” and were not aware about all the services offered. Practical implications – The study is intended to help librarians in Shaqra digital library to identify the necessary elements and mechanisms, to design a proper degree of VRS, to develop and evaluate the current VRS systems. Originality/value - This survey is the first comprehensive study on the students use of Virtual Reference Services (VRS) “Ask a librarian" in Shaqra university and in Arab world, It shows what is the role of (VRS) digital library, and to what extent achieve the satisfaction of Students’ users in digital library of Shaqra university.
