درس البحث ظاهرة جماليات الصوت عند الصعاليك من جهة:فصاحة الألفاظ في شعرهم، ومعالجة الكلمات التي لا تنطبق عليها معايير الفصاحة عند البلاغيين في شعرهم، والدلالة الصوتية والقيم التعبيرية لظواهر لصوتية في شعرهم، ودرس البحث كذلك القافية وأصواتها في شعر الصعاليك، وظاهرة التخفيف في شعرهم: سواء أكانت بتخفيف الهمزة، أو حذف حرف من الحروف، أو تخفيف حركته. وما كان لكل ذلك من تأثير في المعنى في شعرهم، ولم يكن شعر الصعاليك كله على مستوى واحد من حيث موسيقى الأصوات، بل تنوعت واختلفت، ولم يكن خروجهم على المألوف اللغوي لإفادة اللغويين من أهل اللغة، بل كان تعبيرا عن سليقتهم اللغوية ومعبرا عن المعاني التي يريدون التعبير عنها في أنفسهم، فقد كان للأصوات دور في توصيل انفعال الشاعر للمتلقي، فالصوت له تأثيره الذي لا نستطيع إنكاره في المعنى من دلالات وإيحاءات، ويعطيه جمالا في الأسلوب، وجمال إيقاع في الأذن، ورونقا في اللفظ.
