| 520 | |b The researcher presented the description of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah by the travellers Varthema, Burckhardt and Burton as they had seen it during their visits in the years 1503 A.D., 1815 A.D. and 1853 A.D. They began with the general construction of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, its houses, scholars, markets, roads, boundaries and open public places. The researcher inferred from these descriptions the important changes which took place between the visits of these travellers. He also pointed out that Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah was characterized by simplicity and some aesthetic and artistic touches. Further, the researcher presented what these travellers had written about the families living in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, their numbers, origin, race, creed, traditions, the general behaviour of the people, the diseases and their medical treatment. The researcher concluded by giving a comparison between those periods as regards the religious situation, the superstitions and the prevailing heresy amongst the inhabitants. Also he gave his opinion about the writings of these travellers. | ||
