المستخلص: انطلق البحْث من أنّ فرادة روكس بن زائد العزيزيّ (1903- 2004) في دراسة اللهجة الأردنيّة في ضوْء التراث اللغويّ وبعض الأنظار اللغويّة الحديثة المقارنة تعود إلى فرادة بناء شخصيته العلميّة اللغويّة، فسعى إلى تجلية شخصيته مذ كان طفلاً يتلقّى دروسه الأولى في العلم في مدرسة الديّر ومكتبة والده، فنشأ على حبّ العربيّة إلى أنْ أصبح معلماً لها مدّة ستة وخمسين عاماً ألّف خلالها بعض الكتب اللغويّة والتراثيّة والمنهجيّة، ولكنّ تميزّه اللغوي لم يتجَلَّ إلا بعد مراسلاته اللغويّة مع العلامة الأب أنستاس ماري الكرمليّ الذي وجّهه وجهةً لغويّة تراثية معجميّة كان ثمرتها معجمه (قاموس العادات واللهجات والأوابد الأردنية) الذي عُدّ بحقّ ذاكرة لغويّة أردنيّة، حصد جملة من الثناء والتقدير العربيّ والعالميّ؛ إذ بناه وفق نظريّة السّماع الموروثة عن لغويي العربيّة، فسمع اللهجة الأردنيّة من أفواه متكلّميها في جغرافتيهم الممتدة داخل المملكة الأردنيّة الهاشميّة، وحلّل كلماتها مستعيناً بالموروث اللغويّ المدوّن، ثمّ سلكها في معجمٍ علميّ وفق ترتيب ألفبائيّ عُنِيَ فيه بتمحيصِ المسموعِ، وإثباتِ سعة لهجة الأرادنة، وبيانِ أواصر القرابة الوثقى بين المحكيّة الأردنية والعربيّة الفصحى، وردّ العاميّ إلى الفصيح مع حسٍّ تاريخيٍّ يؤرّخ زمنَ ولادة اللفظة في المجتمع الأردني دالاً ومدلولاً، وطرائق الأداء الصوتيّ لحروف الهجاء، والمقاربة والمقارنة بين نحو الأرادنة ونحو العربيّة الفصحى؛ فتوصّل البحثُ إلى أنّ الصّناعة المعجميّة العُزيزّية خطوةٌ رائدة في تجسير الهوّة بين العربية الفصحى؛ والعاميّة عامة، والعربيّة الفصحى واللهجة الأردنيّة خاصة.

This idea of this study was triggered by the uniqueness of Rox Bin Za’id Al-Uzaizi (1903-2004) in his studying the Jordanian dialect in the light of the linguistic tradition and some modern comparative linguistic insights, which underscore the scientific and linguistic features in his character. Thus, he sought to manifest his character since he was a child receiving his primary lessons in the school of the monastery and from his father’s library. This brought him up with a close relation to Arabic till he became a teacher of this language for fifty six years, during which he wrote several books on linguistics, tradition stylistics. Yet, his distinguished production as a linguist did not grow mature until after his linguistic letters exchanges with the monumental Reverend Father Anstas Karmili, who directed him into a traditional linguistic lexical destination, the fruit of which was his work The Dictionary of Jordanian Customs, Dialects and Ruins. This work was perceived as a valuable linguistic assessment and as a Jordanian linguistic memorial that gained a good sum of international praise and high estimation. Uzaizi based his work on the ‘theory of hearing’ inherited from the Arabic linguists. He listened to the Jordanian dialect from the mouths of its speakers all through the geographic locations in Kingdom of Jordan. Then, he set on analyzing its diction and vocabularies guided by the written linguistic tradition before formulating them in a scientific dictionary following an alphabet order, in which he was concerned with examining the heard words, proving the vastness of the Jordanians’ dialect, and verifying the close kinsmanship between the Jordanian spoken dialect and the standard Arab ‘fusha’. He also established the connection between the spoken and the standard with a historic sense that authenticated historically the time of the utterance’s birth in the Jordanian society, pointing to the sign and the signifier. He exposed the ways of phonetically production of the alphabets, approached and held comparisons between the syntax of the Jordanian spoken language and the standard Arabic. In the end, this study concluded that Uzaizi’s dicionary making was a giant step in bridging the gab between the standard Arabic and the spoken dialects in general, and that concerning the Jordanian dialect in particular.
