المستخلص: يرمي هذا البحث إلى التعريف بسلطة المعلم وتحديد معناها اللغوي والاصطلاحي وبيان أنواعها ومعرفة حدودها وآثارها وسبل زيادتها وكيفية تعامل الطلاب معها وذكر أسباب نقصانها واضمحلالها. وقد استخدم الباحث المنهج الوصف التحليلي وذلك بتتبع متعلقات سلطة المعلم من مظانها في كتب التراث وكتب التربية وعلم النفس الحديث، وأهم ما توصلت إليه الدراسة هي أن للمعلم سلطة على طلابه وعلى مجتمعهم من آباء ومجتمع يعمل فيه كما أن له سلطة يعطيها له المجتمع وأخرى تعطيها له وظيفته وثالثة يبنيها هو ويكونها ويغرسها في نفوس طلابه، فمعلم المدرسة يخاف منه طالبه ولا يخاف منه طالب مدرسة أخرى أو شخص من عامة الناس بل أمره متعلق بطالبه الذي يدرسه، وينتهي هذا الخوف وهذه السلطة بتجاوز الطالب المرحلة التي يدرس فيها المعلم والتحاقه بمرحلة أخرى من مراحل التعليم أو انتقاله من هذه المدرسة إلى مدرسة أخرى، وهذه السلطة تزيد وتنقص وقد تذهب وتضمحل بأفعال يقوم المعلم بها. هذا، وقد خرج البحث بتوصيات وخلاصات من أهمها: -قوة المادة العلمية تزيد من سلطة المعلم. -المخالفات الأخلاقية والقصور العلمي يذهبان بسلطة المعلم. -التصرفات الطائشة وسوء معاملة الطالب يتسبب في قلة سلطة المعلم ونقصها.

This research intends to define the teacher's authority and identify its literal and terminological meaning .It tries to identify its limits and the impact of overusing it on students. The study mentions the reasons for authority diminishing and decrease. The researcher used the descriptive analytical approach to conduct this study. He reviewed topics related to teacher's authority that were found in books of Islamic heritage, education and modern psychology. Some of most important results attained by this study are that a teacher has an authority over his students and his society. It is also found that a teacher is delegated this authority by the society and the position he occupies. A third type of authority is built by the teacher himself and he /she inculcates it in her/his students. A teacher in school can practice his authority over his students but not in other schools or on any other person from the public. This teachers authority diminishes when the student passes the particular stage and moves to another school. Furthermore, the teacher's authority may increase or decrease or it may vanish completely as a result of the teacher's behavior. This study has come up with some important results and recommendations. These involve. - The strength of subject taught by the teacher increases his/her authority in the society. -Non ethical behavior and academic weakness deplete the teacher of his authority. -Bad treatment of students reduces teacher's authority and minimizes it.
