Terrorism is a major international concern, that's why the officials and the decision-makers as well as the ordinary citizens are all concerned about it, because it is a multidimensional phenomenon; that means its negative repercussions do not exclude anyone. Combating terrorism is one of the priorities of international and regional institutions, and it has developed numerous plans and programs to eliminate it, but what we are seeing in reality does not indicate any progress, contrary to some estimates, third world countries are the hardest hit by terrorism case, In Africa, terrorist operations continue to be terrible, and at the same time the sovereignty of their countries is also violated, and their resources are torpedoed by the superpowers on the pretext of combating terrorism. Until now, the African solution is still absent, the African Union, despite its several attempts, is still unable to formulate a strategy that unites the countries of the continent, and the regional institutions within the continent in its fight against terrorism, perhaps this failure is the main reason that caused some countries clustered in new institutions to assume their responsibilities and face the threat of terrorism. In recent times, the Sahel region has suffered heavy terrorist attacks, sp some countries have come together to announce the birth of a new regional institution that will take up the task of responding to the new events in the Sahel region, particularly the frequent terrorist threats. The G5 Sahel was created in exceptional circumstances, following the failure of several regional initiatives, the escalation of terrorist operations and the emergence of other terrorist groups in the region, in addition to the heavy French and American military presence in the region, which is expected to pose a major challenge to G 5 Sahel in its struggle against terrorism. In this study we try to highlight the efforts of the African regional institutions in their fight against terrorism, taking into account the efforts of the African Union Organization in this regard, with a focus also on the newly created organization, to know the mechanisms and the conditions of creation, and its opportunities for success, and finally the French's role in the Sahel, and its impact on this new organization.
