لطالما قدمت وسائل الإعلام عدة أدوار للمجتمع منذ وجودها وظهورها وتطورها، حتى أصبح من الصعب فصلها من جوانب الحياة اليومية في المجتمع، والإجابة عن السؤال الذي يظل مطروحا حول ما تقدمه هذه الوسائل بكافة أنواعها وما تستطيع أن تقدمه من دور إيجابي، كالتوعية والوقاية من أشكال الجريمة والانحراف وأشكال العنف يظل غير واضح؛ فالبرغم من أنها تلاقي عدة اتهامات أن لها جانب بارز في ظهور أشكال جديدة من الجرائم لم تكن معروفة قبل وعرضها بصورة إيجابية تجعل المتلقي تظهر له بطابع مغري وجميل وتساهم في انتقالها بشكل اسرع. وفي مقابل هذا تري وسائل الإعلام والعناصر الفاعلة فيها أن الواقع مليء بالعنف، وليس غريبا أن تقوم هذه الوسائل بعرض جزء من هذا الواقع باعتبار التلفاز أو أية وسيلة إعلامية أخري جزء من هذا الواقع، وهي تساهم في إظهاره حتى تقوم بتوعية الجمهور وإخطارهم وذلك من خلال تثقيفهم وتعزيز القيم لديهم من خلال مشاهدة مشاهد العنف والعواقب المنجرة وراء ذلك مما يعزز لديهم شعور الخوف والإدراك حسب ما تراه نظرية التطهير حول العنف في وسائل الإعلام، لكن يظل دورها مبهم حول دورها الحقيقي في تركيبة النسق الاجتماعي للمجتمع. ومن خلال هذا الطرح تحاول هذه الدراسة البحث في موقع وسائل الإعلام في الوقاية من ظاهرة الجريمة ودورها في التوعية من أشكال الجرائم وأنواعها والكشف عن الجرائم الحديثة؟
The media has always played a number of roles for the society since its existence, its appearance and its development, that it is difficult to separate these means from the aspects of the daily life in society. And the answer to the question that remains about what all kinds of media offer and what positive role they can provide as awareness and prevention from all forms of crime, delinquency, and violence remains obscured. Despite the fact that it is accused to have a prominent part in the emergence of new forms of crimes that were not known before and which are presented in a positive way to make them appear attractive to the recipient and contributes to their fast transfer, the media see that reality is full of violence, and it is no surprise that these media present a part of this reality as television or any other media is part of this reality, and it contributes to its visibility so as to educate and inform the public through educating them and enhancing their values by watching the scenes of violence and the consequences behind them, which will enhance their sense of fear and understanding as perceived by the cleansing theory about violence in the media. But its role remains unclear about its real role in the social structure of society. Through this thesis, this study attempts to search in the position of the media in the prevention of the crime phenomenon and its role in raising awareness about the forms and types of crimes and the detection of modern crimes
