The aim of the article was to discuss the King Abdulaziz Prize for Scientific Research on the issues of childhood and development in the Arab world. It pointed out the role of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development in discussing issues of child rearing and gaining information which helps to be aware of the reality of the upbringing and forming, especially with regard to citizenship as one of the priority values for the upbringing of the child in the Arab countries. The article pointed to the Council's efforts to organize the King Abdulaziz Prize in the issues of childhood and development, especially in light of the challenges that face the Arab societies. The article reviewed several points which are, the definition of citizenship, how to raise depending on citizenship, Hope Education Model, the importance of the reward and its objectives and targeted researches. It also addressed the conditions of progress, how to withdraw them, the mechanism of arbitration and criteria for evaluation of research by the Scientific Committee and the arbitrators. The article pointed to the objectives of the reward, including deepening the culture of children's rights by enriching scientific research in the fields of childhood in order to serve Arab societies and the challenges they face in the light of successive global changes to achieve participation in community development in a manner that provides social protection and safeguarding the rights of the child by encouraging creativity and innovation in the field of research regarding child issues in the Arab countries. It pointed out that the reward targets all original scientific research that could benefit those who are working in the field of childhood and development in the Arab countries. The article was concluded by the confirmation of Hassan Al-Baylawi, secretary-general of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development, that the Arab world is in dire need of discussing the issue of citizenship and creating a state of intellectual dialogue about citizenship in the Arab region..This abstract translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc. 2018
