| 520 | |b Conceptual Metaphors are ubiquitous in all modes of human expression and in all types of discourse. The religious discourse in sacred texts is replete with metaphors that are mostly employed while tackling abstract theological issues, such as faith, and intangible realities that are inaccessible to our worldly perception, such as the deity. By means of linking abstract conceptions to our sensual experience, conceptual metaphors bridge the gap between the known and the unknown. Thus, abstract concepts, particularly those belonging to the realm of the metaphysical, become reachable to our understanding through the mysterious power of metaphor. The aim of this article is to compare the use of the camel metaphor in the Qur’anic and Biblical discourse. | ||
