المستخلص: A terminal renal failure always announces the need for a purification by machine or a transplant if not… it is death. A situation which inaugurates chronicity, uncertainty, the anticipation of the worst, the inhibition of ambitions, the despair of leading a normal life and of seeing oneself cured one day! In children, the dialysis machine reincarnates the image of the nourishing and protective mother and prolongs - almost to infinity - dependence on the other. In order to be able to "unify" his being in the face of the threats of the disease and its heavy consequences on his autonomy, the dialysis child goes through the stages of adaptation to dialysis, with an imprint of his family circle which defines the modalities of this adjustment. . Our article presents the clinical study of 3 cases of children with renal failure who have been on hemodialysis for more than 6 months. Our research tools (semi-structured interview for the child and its mother, psychological adjustment test and Draw-a-Person test) were applied during the hospitalization of these children. The results show the specifics of the psychological state of a child on dialysis and the impact of the role of the family in such a situation. This abstract was translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc

Une insuffisance rénale terminale annonce toujours la nécessité d'une épuration par machine ou bien une greffe sinon….c'est la mort. Une situation qui inaugure la chronicité, l’incertitude, la prévision du pire, l’inhibition des ambitions, le désespoir de mener une vie normale et de se voir guéri un jour ! Chez les enfants la machine à dialyser réincarne l’image de la mère nourricière et protectrice et prolonge –presque à l’infini- la dépendance à l’Autre. Afin de pouvoir « unifier » son Etre face aux menaces de la maladie et ses conséquences lourdes sur son autonomie, l’enfant dialysé parcourt les étapes d’adaptation à la dialyse, avec une empreinte de son entourage familial qui définie les modalités de cet ajustement. Notre article présente l’étude clinique de 3 cas d’enfants atteints d’insuffisance rénale et suivant des séances d’hémodialyse depuis plus de 6 mois. Nos outils de recherche (entretien semi-directif destiné à l’enfant et à sa mère, test d’ajustement psychologique et le test du bonhomme) furent appliqués pendant l’hospitalisation de ces enfants. Les résultats affichent les spécificités de l’état psychologique d’un enfant dialysé et l’impact du rôle de la famille dans une telle situation.
