اجتاحت تقنية إدارة الأزمات حقل العلاقات الدولية بقوة، بعدما ظل ينحصر استخدمها في مجالات الاقتصاد والإدارة لمدة طويلة، ولا غرابة في ذلك مادامت هذه الوسيلة التي تتركز في مجملها كافة الاجتهادات والمواقف وردود الأفعال المستندة بدورها إلى مقومات علمية وقانونية بغرض احتواء أزمة معينة. يقوم البحث بتقديم تحليلا متكامل لتطور مفهومي "الأزمة -إدارة الأزمات الدولية "وذلك من خلال طرح التطور التاريخي لماهيه الآزمة منذ القرن السادس عشر، أسبابها، أنواعها، مراحلها، وارتباطها بالعديد من المصطلحات العلمية. علاوة على القاء الضوء على مفهوم أدارة والذي ظهر منذ 1937 وتطوره وأهمية في العصر الحديث ليصبح السلوك والمنهج التي تتبعه الدول الكبرى والقوى الحاكمة لتغير صياغة الشكل الدولي أو لفرض مجموعة من الأفكار على المجتمع الدولي سواء كانت من خلال أدارة أزمة سياسية أو أزمة عسكريه.
