This research is an ambitious step towards the production of a comparative semantic dictionary of linguistic roots in Semitic languages… It is a comparative study of the semantics of the root (ع ر ب) as a verbal participant in the Semitic languages, field of study. The research revealed an amazing richness of this root with semantic indicative values that are rarely found in another linguistic root. Classical Arabic had the largest share of this semantic richness, followed by Syriac, southern Arabic, and Hebrew. This root - in some semantics - has a semantic correlation with the significance level also represented in nine semantics, while the other semantic has been distributed among Semitic languages, field of study, in the form of special symbols for each language separately. Classical Arabic topped the list of the languages of the field with the largest number of these special signs, followed by Syriac, Hebrew and the other languages as detailed in the research. |
