|f Since its invasion of Algeria, the French colonist gradually worked to strip the Algerian people of their Arab-Islamic personality.\nFirst: It destroyed cultural centers which were spread throughout Algeria's urban and rural areas.\nSecond: Adoption of a policy of dual education, with the aim of defacing the national personality.\nIn this paper we aim to:\n- Highlight the most important stages known to the traditional educational system.\n- Disclose the true intentions of the colonizer in respect to constricting the noose upon the cultural and intellectual life.\n- Shed light upon the educated/cultured elite who worked hard to preserve the identity of the Algerian people.\nThis abstract translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc 2018.
