The term Muntah Al-Jum‘ is known in Arabic Morphology as Ultimate Plural while the term Jamu‘ Al-Jam ‘ is known as Secondary Plural and both terms indicate three objects upward. However, the usage of plural forms in the Holy Qur’an, the most authentic source and the conflux of Arabic Studies, is different from the usage in other sources in the sense that each form of plural in the Holy Qur’an has a specific meaning and suitable context. The objectives of this study are to morphologically study the various forms of both plurals, semantically examine the meanings related to each form of plurals, enumerate the quantitative occurrence of each form, and shed light on the stylistic impact of varied Qur’anic readings. The methodology adopted is descriptive and analytical to describe the characteristics of these forms morphologically; it categorizes them accordingly and eventually analyzes their semantic features in the Holy Qur’an. |
