| 520 | |b One of the main problematics of Qur'n translation involves rendering verses with variant readings, a number of Urdu translators of the Qur'n have differed in their attempts to translate the meaning of those verses that admit variant established readings. This deference in translation occurs due to a number of reasons: (i) Non-observance of any principle in attempting such translations, like explaining the most authentic reading followed by relevant traditions while reporting the less authentic readings. (ii) Non-observance of one particular reading throughout the translation. For example, despite the prevalence of the reading transmitted by Haf from ' im in the Sub-Continent, some translators deviate from it in their rendering. (iii) Lack of observing the practice of noting the plurality of readings and showing their mutual difference, if any, in their translations. This paper has surveyed fifteen well-known Urdu translations showing their mutual variations from the angles of morphology and syntax. In the end, the writer recommends a careful investigation into these endeavors of translating variant readings and suggests the compilation of their selected best attempts into a common translation | ||
