This paper makes a survey of studies in the field of hadith undertaken by the renowned scholars of Sabtah. Since this Moroccan city was situated between the eastern Muslim lands and Andalus, it flourished as a vibrant centre of Islamic culture connected with both East and West. Islamic scholarship developing in this cultural metropolis richly contributed to all significant fields of Islamic knowledge particularly hadith. The most outstanding among the scholars of this city Qadhl ‘Ayadh was the most impactfull on the eastern Muslim lands. The latter along with a number of other scholars from Sabtah have displayed many original traits in their works on hadith. The paper takes a notice of these original hadith works and explores their impact in eastern Muslim lands. |
