المستخلص: This paper attempts to discern the grammatical content in the famous work al-Mathal al-Sa’ir by Ibn al-Athlr. While the former emphasizes the distinctness of disciplines and pleads for avoiding overlapping discussions among them, Ibn al-Athir himself could not strictly adhere to this rule. In his elaborations of the principles of Rhetoric, according to the writer he has entered discussions of grammer here and there. The writer, however, pleads for enlivening grammatical discussions with illustrations from Rhetorics. This colouring of the dry rules of grammer with rhetorical features will make the study of grammatical rules less cumborsome for the learners, the writer observes.
