المستخلص: Arab scholars have been writing about the image of Jews in Arabic literature since the end of the nineteenth century. The literary description of a Jew has been conspicuous in the works of the pioneers like Tawfiq al- Hakim, Yahya Hakki, Suhayl Idris and Tayyib li . Various academic conferences held in Damascus, Aman, Beirut and Cairo also have published issued papers regarding depiction of the Jews. There have been Arab writers who highlighted Jewish characters after the establishment of the State of Israel. They mostly wrote about the Arab Jews. Some of these novelists have been outstanding Egyptian literary figures such as Ihsan Abdul Quddus and Naguib Mahfouz. Others included AM Ahmed Bakathir, Najib Kilani, Abdul Rahman al- Sharqawi, Muhammad Mahmoud Zaitoon, Jamal Omar and Ahmad Tahir. These men wrote multiple books about the issues and problems of Palestine and the Jews. There are diverse characters of Jews in Egyptian plays. The character of a typical Jew which is portrayed by the writers in the Arab world appears to be mostly negative. The writers often highlighted negative traits and characters such as treason and treachery, terrorism, oppression, injustice, hypocrisy and greed for money... etc. This paper surveys these negative literary projections of Jews in Egyptian Drama.
