المستخلص: The period of Mughal Empire in India will forever be known as a time of cultural and religious intermixing, which led to the creation of an atmosphere of love, peace, tolerance and harmony among different religious groups and sects. The Mughal rulers made their best efforts to lay the substantive foundation for a harmonious India conducive to a peaceful coexistence. They prepared the ground for the establishment of intellectual and ideological pluralism in the intellectual spheres of Indian society. The Hindus living under the Mughals were granted opportunity of a peaceful and prosperous life through guaranteeing security for both their lives and properties. Without discrimination they enjoyed all the religious, social and cultural freedoms. This paper deals with the nature of relations between Muslims and Hindus. It discusses the religious and social issues which have emerged between them at that time in the light of the Al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya (An Authentic source of hanafi law).
