المستخلص:	The United Arab Emirates has adopted an assertive policy against Islamist-affiliated movements and Iran. Both are seen by the UAE as the main threats to the conservative tradition within not only the UAE but also the Gulf region. This paper examines the new assertiveness in the UAE’s foreign policy and discusses the determinants of such policy and the challenges that it may face.
