المستخلص: The current study aimed to determine the level of awareness of women towards their legal rights related to the engagement, marriage, marital life, divorce, divorce at instance of wife who pays compensation, alimony and their relation to some demographic variables which include nationality, age, social status, number of children and the governorate. The study’s sample consisted of 1112 university girl students enrolled during the academic year 2012/2013, representing 14 scientific colleges at Kuwait University. To achieve the objective of the study, a tool consisting of five sub-parameters was designed to measure the degree of awareness of the members of the sample towards their legitimate rights. The statistical package “Statistical Package for the Social Sciences” (SPSS) was used to analyze the study data. The results found that female students of the sample enjoy a great deal of awareness towards their legitimate rights in all the dimensions of the study. The study also found that there were no differences between the members of the sample due to the variables of the study except the variable of the age, as there were significant differences between the age groups for the age group of 42-49. In light of the findings of the study, several recommendations were presented, the most important of which was the affirmation of the continued improvement of the educational and cultural level of women.

هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى تحديد مستوى وعي المرأة بحقوقها الشرعية المتعلقة بالخطبة، وعقد الزواج، والحياة الزوجية، والطلاق، والخلع، والنفقة، وعلاقتها ببعض المتغيرات الديموغرافية التي تتمثل في الجنسية والسن والحالة الاجتماعية وعدد الأطفال والمحافظة. تكونت عينة الدراسة من 1112 طالبة جامعية مسجلة خلال العام الجامعي 2012/2013، وتمثل 14كلية علمية بجامعة الكويت. ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة تم تصميم أداة تتكون من خمسة مقاييس فرعية، تقيس درجة وعي أفراد العينة بحقوقهن الشرعية. وقد استخدمت الحزمة الإحصائية SPSS Statistical Package for the Social Sciences لتحليل بيانات الدراسة. وخلصت النتائج إلى أن الطالبات أفراد العينة يتمتعن بدرجة كبيرة من الوعي بحقوقهن الشرعية في جميع أبعاد الدراسة. كما توصلت الدراسة إلى عدم وجود فروق بين أفراد العينة تعزى لمتغيرات الدراسة باستثناء متغير السن، حيث وجدت فروق دالة بين الفئات العمرية لصالح الفئة العمرية 42-49. وفي ضوء النتائج التي أسفرت عنها الدراسة تم تقديم مجموعة من التوصيات التي كان أبرزها تأكيد مواصلة رفع المستوى التعليمي والثقافي للمرأة.
