لكل فن من الفنون التشكيلية أسسه البنائية والتصميمية التي تبرز خصائصه الفنية والجمالية وتميزه عن غيره من الفنون، والتراث هو حصيلة ونتاج وخبرة سنوات متواصلة، وترجع جذور الفن الشعبي في مصر إلى القرون الأولى للتاريخ. فالفن الشعبي هو الإنتاج الفني شكلاً وتعبيراً الذي تمارسه جماعة من الشعب نابعاً من تقاليدها المتوارثة. وتعرف منطقة عسير باسم تهامة عسير أي المناطق التي تسكنها قبائل عسير وتقع منطقة عسير في الجزء الجنوبي الغربي من المملكة العربية السعودية بجبالها الشامخة وسواحلها البحرية وسهولها منبسطة ما بين الجبل والبحر، اكسبتها هذه المتناقضات الجغرافية والتضاريس المختلفة تميز وتفرد جعلت منها أهم عوامل الجذب السياحي وتتميز منطقة عسير بطبيعة خلابة. وقد اهتم البحث بدراسة كل من الفن الشعبي المصري والفن الشعبي العسيري السعودي من جميع جوانبه ثم تم استحداث عدد (5) تصميمات مستوحاة من التراث الشعبي المصري ومثلهم (5) تصميمات مستوحاة من التراث الشعبي السعودي ثم الجمع بين الوحدات المصرية والعسيرية في تصميم واحد بإجمالي (15) تصميم، ثم تم تطبيق كل تصميم على عباءة من كل من التصميمات المصرية والسعودية، ثم تم الجمع بين التراثين المصري والسعودي في عدد مماثل من التصميمات. ويمكن إيجاز نتائج البحث في النقاط الآتية: 1. الفن الشعبي المصري والسعودي ثري بالزخارف الشعبية المتنوعة مما يثري تصميم الأزياء. 2. الدراسة الفنية التحليلية للسمات الفنية في الفن الشعبي المصري والسعودي تعتبر مدخلاً ملهما للممارسة والتجريب والبحث عن الحلول الفنية المتنوعة لتصميم الأزياء والموضة. 3. أمكن الاستفادة من بعض عناصر الفن الشعبي المصري والفن الشعبي السعودي العسيري في استحداث تصميمات متعددة تثري التصميم الزخرفي للملابس الخارجية للمرأة (العباءة).
