إن ما وصلت إليه تطورات التقنية في صناعة مواد البناء والتكسيات الداخلية والخارجية التي تطرح يوميا في أسواقنا المحلية أمرا يثير الانتباه، هذه المواد التي أخذت تتدفق من الداخل والخارج، وتتمتع بمواصفات متنوعة عالية التطور والتخصص، وتتسم بتنافس غير مسبوق من حيث التنوع المواصفات والسعر. لمدة طويلة من الزمن، حتى منتصف القرن العشرين، اقتصرت تكسيات الفراغات الداخلية والخارجية على استعمال عدد محدد من المواد الأولية الطبيعية، مثل (الأحجار والأخشاب)، هذه المواد رغم قلة عددها ومحدودية أصنافها، كانت كافية لتجهيز فراغ داخلي يمكن العيش فيه، وتلبي جميع الشروط الأساسية لحياة آمنة ومريحة. وتناول البحث بالدراسة الأطر النظرية لمفهوم التشكيل المعماري والإبداع والعلاقة بين جماليات عناصر التشكيل المعماري واستخدام اللدائن وكذلك العوامل المؤثرة في التشكيل. وتوصل البحث إلى نتيجة هامة وهي: أن الجماليات التشكيلية لعناصر التشكيل المعماري من أهم الوسائل للاستغراق الانفعالي والمعرفي، ومن أهم الأساليب للتعبير الشخصي والإبداعي، وهي مصدر مهم للمتعة الوجدانية والاستثارة البصرية للعمارة والإنسان.
