إن الفن الحديث باتجاهاته ونظرياته ورؤيته المختلفة انطلق في الفترة الأخيرة بطرق كثيرة مختلفة في تحولاتها عن سابقاتها في كل مناحي الفن، وفي الفنون التشكيلية بالأخص حدث تطورا كبيرا في تناول شكل وبناء العمل الفني وفي استخدامات الخامات وفي طرق صياغتها التشكيلة وبنيتها، بهدف الوصول في تصميم وتنفيذ الأعمال الفنية إلى حلول إبداعية وابتكارية ورؤى جديدة في شكل العمل الفني، ولذلك تغير مفهوم الفن لانتقاله من التفكير الثابت إلى المتغيرات، فاختلفت مفاهيم ممارسي الفن ومنابع رؤيتهم فكسرت الحواجز بين جميع فروع الفن. ولقد أصبح الدمج والتكامل بين مجالات الفن في العصر الحديث اتجاها خصبا يتجه إليه فناني مجالات الفن المختلفة لتحقيق العديد من القيم الفنية كما أنه يساعد على نمو التفكير والأداء الإبداعي والطلاقة التشكيلية في استحداث الصياغات الجديدة والحلول التشكيلية المختلفة. ومن هنا ظهرت فكرة هذا البحث وهي الدمج والتكامل بين مادتي التصميم والنسيج لإنتاج أعمال فنية ثلاثية الأبعاد تساير التطور الحادث في الفن. وأهم النتائج التي توصل إليها البحث هي: -الخروج برؤية تشكيلية تكاملية مستحدثة من خلال تحقيق صياغات جديدة تثرى مجالي (التصميم والنسيج) في هيئة أعمال فنية ثلاثية الأبعاد. -تحقيق التناغم اللوني في العمل الفني ناتج التجربة البحثية من خلال استخدام مجموعة لونية متوافقة في العمل ككل سواء في التصميم أو في ألوان الخيوط المستخدمة في النسيج.
