|a Background: Oral contraceptives are the most popular mode of birth control among women and are used by about 100 million women worldwide. Long-term use of these drugs has been associated with a variety of serious adverse events, including deep vein thrombosis, stroke and pulmonary embolism. In addition estrogen have been shown to play an important role in the formation of gallstones. Pill Early Danger Signs (ACHES) include: Abdominal pain (severe), Chest pain (severe), Headaches (severe), Eye problems, severe leg pain (calf or thigh) for predisposed women. Objective: To demonstrate the knowledge, attitude and practice of community pharmacists toward the contraindication of the oral contraceptives (OCP) as OTC drugs. Methods: This Study is Descriptive; (community pharmacy)- based cross-sectional survey was conducted for a period of twelve weeks between November 2015 and February 2016. Results: The end result was that there is a lack of knowledge about the subject of research .the most oral contraceptive contraindications known were thromboembolic events with74.3% , while the lowest contraindication known was gallbladder disease with only 4.9%. Headache and eye problem were the most known danger signs among the pharmacists with 78.4% and 57.6% respectively. Conclusion: The evaluation of pharmacist knowledge, attitude and practice about oral contraceptives in bahri locality revealed a state of unsatisfactory and concerning lack of knowledge about the subject. Although pharmacists mostly had a positive attitude about the subject still the lack of satisfactory amount of knowledge leads to the unconvincing practice.
