|f The issue of women’s rights occupies a great deal of global debate and at the same time rates of violence against her are increasing in many countries. In light of this, some make an error in respect to understanding some of the Shar’iyah (Islamic law) meanings like that of “Al-Qiwaamah” (Guardianship) and the right of guardianship or what is similar could be misused. This research has come to reaffirm the value of mercy concerning the manner of treating the woman in Islam by highlighting the manifestations of this value within the life of the Prophet ﷺ who is the best example for the believers and who instructed that we emulate his family life specifically, when he said: “The best of you is the one who is best to his family (wives) and I am the best of you to my family”. Through this examination and deep look at the mercy which represented the methodology of the Prophet ﷺ in respect to his dealing with the woman, the difference between the legal rights and the meanings of humanity which cannot be cultivated by the mere passing of laws and which are not acquired in most cases except by a judicial ruling, becomes apparent. That is whilst Islam makes the mercy a methodology of life and a moral, social and Islamic responsibility. The moral of mercy is from the most noble of morals and the greatest in impact upon the one possessing it and upon the people in the life of this world and hereafter. Mercy is the tenderness in the self which sends out goodness to others. It was demonstrated in the dealings of the Prophet ﷺ with the woman within his family life and general life, just as it manifested a lot within his instructions to his companions and its applications within the Sunnah are abundant and numerous.\n\nI have divided this research into two sections: The applications of mercy within his life ﷺ with women in general and its applications within the scope of the family. I summarized the first section of applications in the form of stances and instructions or recommendations. As for the family scope, then I divided this aspect into topics spread over the family applications among the mother, daughters, wife and sisters. I have also quoted from the texts of his Sunnah ﷺ that which supports or reinforces these applications and elucidates the aspect of mercy within them. That is to demonstrate to the one who contemplates, that mercy with the woman represented his original moral behavior which did not depart him, nor did he sway from it. It represents the great moral disposition which has virtually become lost in respect to the treatment of women in our current time, in which talk about material rights has become predominant and the woman has been left to extract these rights through the force of the law. It has reached the point in this time that many women experience violence or abuse in its various forms or at best. they experience unnecessary argumentation and restrictions, in the absence or marginalization of the Islamic values. \n\nThe subject and the reasons for selecting it:\n\n1. The need to spread the Islamic moral values related to the treatment of the woman due to increased divorce rates and cases of violence against women.\n\n2. To contribute to highlighting the manifestations of exhibiting mercy with the woman and its applications within Islam.\n\nThe objectives of the subject area:\n\n1. Highlight the value of mercy in the dealing of the Messenger ﷺ with the woman in all her circumstances.\n\n2. Highlight examples of the application of mercy in the dealing of the Messenger ﷺ with the woman in the context of family life.\n\n3. To touch upon the educational meanings related to the general morals of the Prophet ﷺ in respect to the woman. \n\nPrevious studies: I did not find within that which I read, in terms of books and studies, that which focused the discussion specifically to the value of mercy in relation to treating women and the application of this mercy within the life of the Messenger ﷺ and his Sunnah (speech and actions). However, I did find studies about manifestations of mercy within the life of the Prophet ﷺ which encompassed all of the manifestations of mercy within the aspects of his personality, his actions, statements and circumstances. I will mention the most prominent of these studies:\n\n1. “Mercy in the Life of the Messenger ﷺ”, Dr. Raghib Al-Hanafi Raghib Al-Sarjaaniy. This is a general research concerning the mercy of the Messenger ﷺ in all of his circumstances; in peace and war, with the men and the women. The amount relating to women specifically in the book was seven pages in total.\n\n2. “The Prophet of Mercy”, Ustadh Muhammad Mas’ud Yaqut. This book is general in respect to the mercy of the Prophet ﷺ in all circumstances and this included five pages specifically related to women. \n\n3. “Features of the Mercy of the Prophet ﷺ concerning his Relationship with his Family”, by the Iraqi researcher Mahmoud Hamid. It is a research paper published upon the Alukah website. It discussed the mercy of the Prophet ﷺ with his whole family and it was not restricted to the woman. Rather, it included relatives, in-laws, servants and slaves. It also discussed the mercy of the wives with offspring.\n\nHow this study is distinguished from the previous studies:\n\n1. It is an examination of the subject of the value of mercy in respect to women specifically, a thorough demonstration of its applications and its connection to all of the rights, as extracted from the stances embodied by the Messenger ﷺ.\n\n2. It collates the applications of mercy which have come as instructions within the texts of the Sunnah (statements of the Prophet ﷺ).\n\n3. It highlights the value of mercy concerning the woman in respect to that which relates to women in general and in respect to that which relates specifically to family relations with the woman, in all of her roles.\n\nThe research plan: The plan of this research was organized into an introduction, two topics and a conclusion, as follows:\n\nIntroduction: This includes the study plan, its significance, its objectives and the previous conducted studies.\n\nThe research plan was organized into an introduction, two topics and a conclusion, followed by an index of references and sources, as follows:\n\nThe first topic: The value of mercy in respect to the dealing of the Messenger ﷺ with the woman in general. This was split into two sub topics:\n\nThe first sub-topic: Applicational examples of mercy with the woman reported within situations found in the noble life of the Messenger ﷺ.\n\nThe second sub-topic: Applicational examples of mercy with the woman which have been stated within the Sunnah (recorded related statements of the Prophet) in the form of instructions or recommendations. \n\nThe second topic: Applicational examples of the value of mercy in the dealings of the Prophet ﷺ with the woman within the family context. This has four sub-topics:\n\nThe first sub-topic: Applicational examples of mercy related to dealing with the mother.\n\nThe second sub-topic: Applicational examples of mercy related to dealing with the wife.\n\nThe third sub-topic: Applicational examples of mercy related to dealing with the daughters. \n\nThe fourth sub-topic: Applicational examples of mercy related to dealing with the sisters.\n\nThe conclusion and index or references.\nThis abstract translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc. 2018
