المستخلص: Le présent article s’interroge sur le statut de la sémiotique au sein du vaste champ du savoir et des rapports qu’elle entretient avec les autres disciplines. Cette interdisciplinarité sera démontrée ici à partir d’une approche sémiotique d’un signe visuel sous forme d’une caricature. De même, la multimodalité des signes constitutifs de la caricature renforce les tendances épistémologiques actuelles remettant en cause l’objet d’étude de la sémiotique ainsi que son terrain qui paraissent hétérogènes, transcendants et assimilables à d’autresdisciplines.

This article probes into the status of semiotics within the vast field of knowledge and reports, which it maintains with the other disciplines. This interdisciplinarity will be shown starting from a semiotic approach of a visual sign in the form of a caricature. In the same way, the multimodality of the signs constitutive of the caricature reinforces the current epistemological trends calling into question the object of study of semiotics as its ground, which appear heterogeneous, transcendent and comparable to other disciplines.
