المستخلص: "The contemporary society depends, nowadays, more and more on the idea of the "system, " The liberal state, according to this symbolic perception of morality of the "communautariste", "by the idea of clearing the way to the individual to organize his life freely as what she wants, on a condition not to exceed the lives of others". How can we define the individual nowadays? From her lan¬guage, country, religion, football team she prefers, or from her sexual desires? These questions depended on the concept of the "Modern identity", which represents the mean idea of the researches done by ' Charles Taylor, a Canadian philosopher, and the honor pro¬fessor at M.C. Gill university, Montreal. Charles Taylor isn't known in France, although he has a large effect and success all over the world. In 1961, he got his PhD from the University of Oxford. He was a famous and popular politician in Quebec district, elected four times (1962-1963-1965-1968) in the national elections with the Democratic Party, and kept the left party away from the political Canadian scene. Later on, he decided to go back practicing his favorite hobby. In 1975, he pu¬blished his book "Hegel" and got it on the best seller list of books in the Twentieth century, this book contains a some of moral and political theories that criticize the Anglo- American society. He was. famous as a symbol of the moral society (American- Canada) gathering the liberal society and the strong feeling of belonging to the society community, presented distinguished and criticism with "John Rawls" an American liberalism philosopher and "Jür¬gen Habermas" a German philosopher. In 1989, he published his book "Source of the self«: the Making of the Modern identity Translated to French in 1979). In this book Taylor tried to follow up and then develop of the modern concept of the self from the enticing ages until nowadays. In his book "A secular Age 2007) Taylor gave a deep reading about the development of the society from the renaissance age . In 2007 he won a "Temple ton prize" (Britain) about his writing on the multi-cultural. He was posted a chairman with "Gérard Bouchard" a Canadian sociology scientist at the counsel tan community about consensus of then cultural difference (Bouchard - Taylor community.
