المستخلص: La reproduction architecturale dans un texte littéraire influence de près la structure romanesque et constitue le fondement de cette dernière. Ainsi, le fait de restituer dans un récit un modèle architectural engendre nécessairement un processus de création langagière exceptionnelle. Dans un récit fantastique, le modèle architectural est conçu d’un œil subjectif ; il s’agit pour la plupart des fois d’un espace ou d’un monde passé qui se ranime et reprend vie aux yeux de l’observateur.
Et comme la représentation architecturale est fortement liée à la subjectivité du contemplateur, elle constitue sans doute le reflet de son imagination et de ses fantasmes; bref, elle s’avère être le miroir de son inconscient. La reproduction de la ruine et la description des vestiges dans l’œuvre gautiéresque forment l’unité du récit et déterminent sa progression.
Dans Arria Marcella de Théophile Gautier, on remarque l’existence d’une analogie entre l’objet architectural mis en question et le texte littéraire. La reproduction de l’image de la ruine de Pompéi semble transformer la construction textuelle ; elle transpose celle-ci de façon à en faire un récit- reflet d’un espace qui se métamorphose pour reprendre vie et restituer un passé. Ainsi, l’art d’écrire peut être défini comme étant l’art de bâtir avec les mots.
Nous tenterons, dans ce travail, d’expliquer la place primordiale qu’occupe l’architecture dans l’œuvre de Gautier et de montrer comment l’auteur a exploité et réinvesti la représentation de la ruine dans son texte. Cette étude a pour objectif de mettre en lumière le rapport qui existe entre l’écrivain (architecte du texte littéraire) et l’architecte, voire, de souligner le lien entre l’art de bâtir et de contempler d’une part et l’art d’écrire et de lire de l’autre.

Architectural reproduction in a literary text that has a strong influence on the Roman structure and represents its foundation. Thus, restoring an architectural model in a narrative necessarily generates an exceptional process of language creation. In a fantastic narrative, the architectural model is designed with a subjective eye; for the most part, it is a space or a past world that revives and comes to life again in the eyes of the observer.
And since the architectural representation is strongly linked to the subjectivity of the contemplator, it undoubtedly reflects his imagination and his fantasies; in short, it turns out to be the mirror of his unconscious. The reproduction of the ruin and the description of the remains in the gautiéresque work form the unity of the narrative and determine its progression.
In Arria Marcella written by Théophile Gautier, we note the existence of an analogy between the architectural object in question and the literary text. The reproduction of the image of the ruin of Pompeii seems to transform the textual construction; it transfers it in such a way to make it a narrative-reflection of a space that is transformed into life with restoring the past. Thus, the art of writing can be defined as the art of building with words.
In this work, we will attempt to explain the primitive place occupied by architecture in Gautier's work and to show how the author exploited and reinvested the representation of ruin in his text. This study aims to highlight the relationship between the writer (architect of the literary text) and the architect, and even to highlight the link between the art of building and contemplating on the one hand and the art of writing and reading of the other..
