المستخلص: The study aimed to examine the effect of the extreme values upon the differential performance for sections of the mathematics examination of the International Study series “Timms” for the eighth grade, according to the gender variable. To fulfil the purpose of the study, the responses of a randomly selected sample of 554 male and female students, from those registered for examination in 2011, upon one of the examination books, the 2nd book, were analyzed. The final form of the examination consisted of 26 sections after deleting the paragraphs that did not conform to the three-dimensional model. The Tok (box drawing) method and the performance indicator approach were used for the section and examination, to reveal the extreme values and differential performance for the examination sections.
The results of the study showed the presence of 26 extreme values; 17 of which were a value for the female and 9 for the male. The results also made evident the presence of seven sections showing a differential performance; regulated and unregulated, with the presence of the extreme values, from an origin of 26 sections, with a fluidity percentage rate of 27%, according to the gender variable. Following the deletion of the extreme values from the data collections and undertaking a reanalysis, the results revealed the presence of four sections which showed a differential performance; regulated and unregulated, with a fluidity percentage rate of 15%, in the case where this percentage went down by 12%, after excluding the extreme values from the analysis.

هدفت الدراسة إلى التحقق من أثر القيم المتطرفة على الأداء التفاضلي لفقرات اختبار الرياضيات في الدراسة الدولية "تيمس" للصف الثامن تبعا لمتغير الجنس. ولتحقيق الغرض من الدراسة تم تحليل استجابات عينة مختارة عشوائيا علي أحد كراسات الاختبار وهو الكراس الثاني والبالغ عددهم (554) طالبا وطالبة ممن تقدموا للاختبار للعام 2011. تكونت الصورة النهائية للاختبار من (26) فقرة بعد حذف الفقرات غير مطابقة للنموذج ثلاثي المعلمة. استخدمت طريقة توكي (الرسم الصندوقي) وطريقة مؤشر الأداء للفقرة والاختبار للكشف عن القيم المتطرفة، والأداء التفاضلي لفقرات الاختبار. كشفت نتائج الدراسة عن وجود (26) قيمة متطرفة منها (17) قيمة للإناث و (9) قيم للذكور، وبينت النتائج كذلك وجود سبع فقرات أبدت أداء تفاضليا بنوعيه المنتظم وغير المنتظم بوجود القيم المتطرفة من أصل (26) فقرة بنسبة مئوية (27%) تبعاً لمتغير الجنس. وبعد حذف القيم المتطرفة من مجموعة البيانات وإعادة التحليل أظهرت النتائج وجود أربع فقرات قد أبدت أداء تفاضليا بنوعيه المنتظم وغير المنتظم بنسبة مئوية (15%)، حيث تناقصت هذه النسبة بمقدار (12%) عندما استبعدت القيم المتطرفة من التحليل.
