المستخلص: الضرورة الشعرية مظهر من مظاهر الخروج على الاستعمال المألوف المطرد للغة. جاءت في جميع أشعار المتقدمين وأكثر أشعار المحدثين. ويفترق علماء العربية في تعريفها وفي فهمهم لها وفي تحليلها؛ فمنهم من أشار إليها كضرورة شعرية دعت إليها القافية أو الوزن الشعري، ومنهم من جعلها رخصة في الشعر فالتمس لها مخرجا في النحو. ومنهم من عدها لهجة أو لغة لبعض القبائل فرآها منبهة على أصل الباب الذي تجيء فيه. ومنهم من رآها ضعفا وعجزا وخطأ، ومنهم من رآها بلاغة وإحكاما وشجاعة. وقد بحثوا وأكثروا في طلب علة تفسرها، فاضطربت آراؤهم واختلفت فلم يأتوا فيها بشيء يرضي ويقنع. وقد حاولت الدراسة إيجاد منهج يسمح باستيعاب هذه الظاهرة اللغوية فعالجتها براغماتيا مقاميا، وأظهرت أن ما يسمى ضرورة شعرية إنما هي معان خاصة اتخذت أشكالا لغوية كان لها أصل في الماضي، تقع في خطاب الشاعر مطابقة لمقتضى حاله، منسجمة ومتفقه مع معانيه وفكره وإحساسه واشعوره، سمحت بها اللغة لمفاجأة المتلقي.

The poetic Necessity is the unconventional use of the standard Arabic language, which is marked in the poetry of the whole old generation of poets and in most of the modern ones. This Unconventional Language has been a controversial issue among the specialists of language, syntax, rhetoric, and criticism. Some linguists refer to it as a poetic necessity required achieving sound rhyme and rhythm; others are able to find an outlet in the syntax of the language. On the other hand, such necessity is accounted by some linguists as a mere source of linguistic weakness, defect, and confusion noticed on some rare occasional instances and therefore cannot be standardized. All through the linguistic history, the poetic necessity has been a thorny subject of conflicting views seeking justification and reasons of its existence; nevertheless, there has been no satisfactory outcome to define and analyze the concept so far. Hence, this study attempts to establish a patterned methodology to cope with the poetic necessity in the light of modern linguistics. The research demonstrates that the poetic necessity means the use of “Particular/Unusual Meanings” formed in new linguistic forms that have clear reference in the language. They are employed by the poet as imperative and expressive means for his thought, senses and emotions with a view to accomplishing unexpected constructs able to create an unexpected response by the readership.
