|
|a Schwarz methods are very effective numerical methods when dealing with large scale problems. In this project, we apply the multiplicative and additive Schwarz methods to a class of nonlinear elliptic partial differential equation. More pre- cisely, we give a thorough analysis of their respective convergence, using monotony methods based on the concepts of supersolution and subsolution and the maxi- mum principle. Moreover, we adapt this monotony approach to analyze for the first time the convergence of the 5- point finite difference scheme applied to the multiplicative Schwarz method, using the concepts of discrete subsolution and supersolution and the discrete maximum principle.
