The paper is an attempt to appraise the contributions of one of the greatest Sudanese that ever lived in Nigeria, Shaykh Osman El-Tayeb, towards the strengthening of the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and the Sudan. El- Tayeb came to Nigeria in 1940 and settled in Kano under the tutelage of his uncle Shaykh Bashir El- Rayyah, who was posted by the Sudanese Judiciary to establish the Kano Law School. Relying exclusively on oral interviews and personal documents, the paper examines the over seventy years history of El-Tayeb‟s stay in Kano and elicit on his role in consolidating the relationship between the two countries. The contributions of the subject of this paper capture ranges from political, economic, educational and to some extent diplomatic courtesies.
