تعد الزراعة من أهم المقومات الاقتصادية لأي كيان سياسي، ومملكة بيت المقدس الصليبية من الكيانات السياسية التي قامت في بلاد الشام واستمرت لقرنين من الزمان ٤٩٣-٦٩٠هـ/١٠٩٩-١٢٩١م، وقد استفادت هذه المملكة، التي كانت بحاجة ماسة إلى استغلال جميع الموارد الطبيعية للاستمرار، من خصوبة الربة ووفرة المياه وملائمة المناخ، وعمل حكامها على استغلال الأراضي الزراعية بمحاصيل ذات أهمية كبيرة في الاقتصاد الصليبي، وكان في طليعة تلك المحاصيل الزيتون، حيث اهتم الصليبيون كثيرا بغرس شجرة الزيتون على نطاق واسع حتى أصبحت منتجاتها تمثل دخلا مهما لخزينة مملكة بيت المقدس آنذاك. من هنا كان اختيار شجرة الزيتون وأثرها في اقتصاد مملكة بيت المقدس الصليبية موضوعاً لهذا البحث، الذي يبدأ بالحديث عن أهمية موقع بلاد الشام من الناحيتين الدينية والاقتصادية، ثم الحديث عن وصول الحملة الصليبية الأولى وتأسيس مملكة بيت المقدس، ويلي ذلك تناول أهمية شجرة الزيتون ومقومات زراعتها، ثم التطرق للحديث عن ملآك الأراضي، وطرق حصولهم عليها، وعلاقة الملاك بالفلاحين والضرائب المفروضة علي الإنتاج، وصلة ذلك كله بشجرة الزيتون، وأخيراً يتناول البحث الصناعات القائمة علي هذه الشجرة، ثم يختتم البحث بعرض لأهم النتائج التي تم التوصل إليها.
Agriculture is considered one of one of pillars of the economy of any political entity. The crusaders kingdom of Jerusalem is among the political entities which were found in the Levant and lasted for two centuries 493-690. A.H/1099-1291 .A.D. This kingdom which was in a great need exploit all the natural resources made use of the fertility of soil and the Abundance of water and the suitable climate by exploiting a agricultural land in cultivation crops that has a great important to the crusader s economy on of there was olive tree much of their attention the cultivated it in a large scale .the products of olives and olive oil became important source of income to the crusaders kingdom treasury. Thus came the choice of the subject of the olive tree and its effect on the economy as a title for this paper . in the outset the paper discusses the important of the location of the Levant from religious and economic point of view , the arrival of the first crusaders expedition and the founding of the kingdom of Jerusalem . The paper also studies the impolance of olive tree and its cultivation , and the land owners , and the was they acquired them, the relation between the peasants and the land owners and the taxes that were levied on the produce and it link to olive tree last but not least , the paper . studies the industries that are based on olive tree and the conclusion.
