|a يعتبر الدكتور الحاج صالح من رواد الدرس اللساني الحديث، قرأ التراث اللغوي العربي واستوعبه جيدا، واطلع على علوم اللسان في الثقافة الغربية، وأفاد منها في نقد الواقع اللغوي في العالم العربي، كما دعا إلى تغيير مناهج التعليم عامة، وتعليم اللغة العربية على وجه الخصوص، لأنها لا تساير العصر ولا تتناسب وروح العربية التي كان الناطقون بها يستخدمون مستويين من التعبير، المستوى العفوي الاسترسالي، والمستوى الإجلالي الترتيلي، بينما تدرس اللغة العربية في جميع مراحل التعليم من الابتدائي إلى الجامعة بمستوى واحد، وهو المستوى الإجلالي، ومنه جاء موضوع بحثي هذا معنونا ب :التعبير ومستوياته عند الدكتور الحاج صالح.
