المستخلص: هناك مقولة مشهورة بين الباحثين في التاريخ وهي "لا تاريخ بلا مصادر" إذ لا يمكن للباحث أن يكتب دون الرجوع إلى المصادر ليستقي منها المادة الأولية التي تزوده بالنصوص الكفيلة بكتابة متن البحث، فعملية كتابة التاريخ تقوم على المصادر، ولذلك اشترط على الباحث أن يتأكد من توافر مصادر كافية قبل الشروع في عملية البحث. أستقى أهل التاريخ مصادر متعددة في كتابتهم للسيرة النبوية، وهي في الواقع فيها المعتد به في الجملة، وفيها غير المعتد به، وفي كلا النوعين ما يصح وما لا يصح من الروايات، واغلب كتب التاريخ تورد الصحيح والضعيف والواهي والموضوع في أخبار السيرة مما يجعل دارس السيرة محتاجا إلى تمحيص هذه الروايات قبل الاستشهاد بها، وإن من المؤسف حقا أن نرى بعض المثقفين، بل ويجادلون فيها؛ فلا يفرقون بين سند وسند، ولا بين رواية ورواية، ولا يؤمنون بمنهج النقد عند المحدثين ولزوم تطبيقه في مجال روايات السيرة والشمائل النبوية والتاريخ. الأمر الذي يؤدي أحيانا إلى الخلط بين الرأي والرواية هو الذي يوقع في مثل هذه المقولة في مثل هذا الرأي، إن هناك فرقا بين أن يقول القائل: ((لا أرى حرجا من روايته))، وبين أن يقول: لا أرى حرجا من اعتقاده أو العمل به؛ إذ يشترط للمقولة الأولى صحة ذلك الكلام رواية؛ ليزول الحرج من روايته، ولا يشترط للمقولة الأخرى صحة الرواية بها في ذلك الموضع، وإنما يشترط قيام الدليل على المضمون؛ وذلك للفرق بين أن يروي الإنسان الرواية، وبين أن يعتقد معنى من المعاني أو يعمل به! كما أنه عندما تختلط على الباحث هذه المعاني سوف يخطئ الحق والصواب ولا شك، وقد يضل ويضل، من حيث يشعر أو من حيث لا يشعر، وما أكثر الناس اليوم الذين لا يفرقون بين هذه الوجهة وتلك وبما أن لكل علم مصادره التي يستقي منها مادته، والسيرة النبوية أيضا لها مصادرها، وهي عند المؤرخين ليست على درجة سواء في الأخذ منها والاعتماد عليها، بل تتفاوت بحسب قيمتها، ويأتي في مقدمتها القرآن الكريم فهو أوثق المصادر وأصحها وفيما عداه عبارة عن مزج بين الروايات الثقات والضعفاء، ومنهم من لم يشترط الصحة فيما يرويه، لأن المقصد التاريخي كان هو الموجه لأدائه، حيث كان يرمي إلى جمع كافة التفاصيل التاريخية الخاصة بمواضعه من كافة المصادر على اختلاف منازلها من الصحة والضعف فهي تحتاج إلي البحث والدراسة لمعرفة موثوقيته من عدمها، وهو غاية البحث.
