Scriptural processes play an important role in terms of help with reading and expression. However, the typographic apparatus available to writers is poor in terms of accounting for certain prosodic aspects such as intensity, rhythm, syllabic cutting, etc. This is why, in the written representation of the oral, some Algerian novelists exploit the scriptural processes by giving them new expressive functions. This is how they contribute to the enrichment and renovation of punctuation. So, the main objective of this article is to unveil these new uses of scriptural processes and to wonder how to improve them so that they can enrich the punctuation, in a general way. The linguistic study of some contemporary Algerian novels will allow us to offer concrete examples of these new uses of scriptural processes. For example, writers introduce the dash to segment words and expressions whose syllables must not be separated; they multiply the vowels and consonants of terms to create a sound effect in reading; they insert the capital letter in terms where it should not appear; they abuse the use of suspension points to create a rhythmic effect in sentences; etc. It is important to note that this initiative is not as bold in all contemporary works, but it is already revolting against literary traditions. As a conclusion, we can say that the new Algerian novel of French expression thus represents the field of creative and innovative work of the novelists so that they can introduce in their texts the emotion of the spoken language by simple scriptural processes which carry strong expressive values. This is why it seems important to think of new scriptural methods that can further enrich the punctuation.
