When an Egyptian woman was murdered in Dresden (Germany) 1st of July 2009, the reactions in the Western; and Islamic World were. quite: different. in comparison. Silent remembrances in Dresden .and Berlin faced demonstrations and angry protests in Egypt and the Islamic World The conflict between Islam and the Western World seemed to smoulder again ؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟ In recourse to the works of Dimitrova .(Dimitrova 2007) it can be assumed that the Egyptian; and German newspapers, tell different tales of the, same war, through the use of different frames in their () News coverage” (Dimitrova 2007 162). The exploratory research question asks how the German and the Egyptian, media cover the case of Marwa El Sherbini. A comparative content analysis examines similarities and differences in the German and Egyptian news coverage immediately after the murder and. reveals two different frames. One of them suitable, to foster inter cultural, conflicts especially in the post conflict phase described by Gilboa: (2005). |
