The aim of this study is to define the “author’s ethos” through his writing. In order to proceed in our research plan, we had to go back and look for the fundaments of the term in the classical rhetoric and then follow it through in the modern linguistic analysis. We tried to apply our finding on samples of Jean-Paul Sartre writings; it is an essay to show how the ethos of such author was revealed, not only in his two autobiographical novels but also in one of his plays. |
